Rio Frio is an unincorporated
community in southeastern Real County,
Texas. It is just off U.S. Route 83, south
of of Leakey, Texas, the county seat of Real
County. The Frio River runs along Highway 83
and FM 112 from Leakey . The Frio River
feeds into the Nueces River South of Three
Rivers, merging with the Leona River and
Sabinal River.
In 1856 settlers began moving from Leakey,
Texas to Rio Frio, Texas. Rio Frio has
always remained a small town with lots of
charm and beautiful scenery.
